Lauri is a Registered Mental Health Nurse with over three decades of experience in psychiatric nursing and mental health research. He earned his Master’s degree in Nursing Science in 2003 and completed his PhD at the University of Turku in 2009, focusing on psychiatric patients’ rights and service user involvement. In 2013, he was appointed Docent (Adjunct Professor) in Nursing Science. Lauri is an active educator and speaker, regularly contributing to doctoral education, national and international seminars, and professional training events. His research interests include psychiatric patients’ rights, involuntary psychiatric care, and the use of technology to support mental health and well-being. He has supervised four completed PhD theses and is currently supervising twelve doctoral candidates at the University of Eastern Finland. With 71 peer-reviewed scientific publications, Dr. Lauri is a recognized voice in the field. He is also one of the key organizers of the European Conference on Mental Health and the European Congress on Violence in Clinical Psychiatry.
