Michiko Moriyama

Professor Moriyama has been teaching at Hiroshima University since 2002 and was the programme director for the CNS course in Chronic Care Nursing. She holds an MSN from California State University, Fresno, and a PhD in Public Health from Yamaguchi University, Japan. She worked at the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare as a nursing specialist, where she contributed to the development of the national long-term care insurance system. She founded DPP Health Partners Co., Ltd. in 2010 to provide chronic disease management programmes throughout Japan. Professor Moriyama has conducted various community-based research studies in Japan and developing countries with her international students. Her diabetic nephropathy prevention programme has been adopted as a national policy under the "Data Health Plan". She is a board member of many academic organizations and a member of the Science Council of Japan and has received national and international awards in her field.
