Karen Bjøro
2nd Vice President, Board member, International Council of Nurses
Dr Karen Bjøro, RN, MSN, PhD is a leader in global nursing. She is currently 2nd Vice President of the International Council of Nurses and board member since 2017. She is vice-president of the European Forum of National Nurses and Midwives Associations (EFNNMA) that partners with the WHO Regional Office for Europe. From 2011-19 she served as 2nd Vice President of the Norwegian Nurses Organization. She has been strongly engaged in nursing policy leadership development, strengthening national nurse’s associations, and raising the voice of students in global policy. Dr Bjøro completed nursing education in Norway in 1982 and her PhD in Adult and Gerontological Nursing at the University of Iowa in 2008.
