Professor Deborah Harris is a globally recognised nurse scientist, neonatal nurse practitioner, and academic leader, currently serving as Professor of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Newcastle and Hunter New England Health. With a distinguished career spanning clinical practice, research, and academia, she has pioneered advancements in neonatal care, nurse practitioner development, and workforce research in both Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia. Deborah's research focuses on neonatal glucose regulation, particularly in the management of hypoglycaemia and long term follow up. She is also a leading advocate for the nurse practitioner role, contributing to its development and sustainability through research, policy, and workforce initiatives.
