Kateryna Komar is the Chief Nurse Officer (CNO) of Ukraine and a national nursing leader. She holds a PhD, a Master’s degree in Nursing, a Master’s degree in Public Administration, and is an Associate Professor. Kateryna began her professional journey as a junior nurse and now has 28 years of experience in practical medicine. She is dedicated to advancing the nursing profession, strengthening primary health care, and promoting gender equity in health systems. She is the author of national standards for nurse workload in Ukraine and plays a key role in the development of the national Strategy for Nursing Development. Her leadership focuses on policy change, professional empowerment, and improving access to care for underserved populations, especially rural women. Currently, Kateryna is working on the creation of the Institute for Nursing Development — an educational and consulting center with a social mission. She is a 2024 Global Nursing Leadership Institute (GNLI) Scholar and a 2025 Florence Nightingale Foundation (FNF) Scholar. She believes in the power of truth, community care, and the quiet strength of women leaders. Kateryna aspires to represent Ukrainian nurses on the global stage.
